Project: A comprehensive website dedicated to LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic violence

Overview:

"A Way Out" (https://www.awayout.info/) is a comprehensive online resource dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals experiencing abusive relationships and domestic violence. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by this community, the website provides access to vital resources, including state-specific hotlines, therapy options, advice for allies, and educational articles on various forms of abuse. The goal was to create a safe, accessible, and informative platform that empowers survivors and fosters a supportive community.

Accomplishments:

- Comprehensive Resource Development:
I meticulously compiled and organized a database of domestic violence resources and hotlines for all 50 U.S. states, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
I curated a list of LGBTQ+-affirming therapy options and mental health resources, addressing the specific needs of survivors.
I developed a section dedicated to providing guidance and support for family and friends witnessing a loved one in an abusive relationship.

- Educational Content Creation:
I researched and authored a series of articles addressing the unique dynamics of abusive relationships within the LGBTQ+ community, including topics such as blackmail, outing, hoovering, and gaslighting.
I crafted clear and empathetic content that empowers survivors to recognize and understand various forms of abuse.
I ensured that all content was inclusive and representative of the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community.

- Website Design and Development:
I designed and developed a user-friendly and accessible website, prioritizing ease of navigation and information retrieval.
I implemented a clean and intuitive layout, ensuring that users can quickly find the resources they need.
I optimized the website for responsiveness across various devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

- Community-Focused Approach:
I designed the website to be a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ survivors.
I focused on providing information that would empower survivors to take control of their situations.
I created a website that would be a valuable resource for allies of the LGBTQ+ community.
